The time leading up to Christmas might be well spent, crafting some appropriate decorations or Christmas presents for the parents. A very suitable group activity.

The important thing is: your crafting idea needs to be easy. Kids want to see quick success. If the concept happens to be too complicated and too time-consuming children will be discouraged quickly.

What craft ideas are suitable?

To everyone who is good with the jigsaw, I would recommend a wind light. The group leader will need to prepare 4 different patterns, which are transferred to the wood and then cut out. The resulting openings are covered with transparent paper. Every single part is fitted together and a candle it put in the middle. Your wind light is finished!

Stars and moons made from wood

Firstly, in different sizes draw some stars and moons on a piece of plywood. Secondly, using a drill, pierce a hole, to put a small ribbon through. Finish your decorations with sandpaper and an appropriate paint. Those ornaments are suitable for the Christmas tree.

You can create Christmas balls quite easily with gold and silver foil. This is simple and quick. Firstly, using a compass or a small saucer, draw some circles on the foil. Cut them out and make an incision to the middle of the disc. Roll that into a small cone and glue it together. Next, glue as many as necessary cones together to form a bigger ball. This kind of decoration looks good in the window or on the Christmas tree.

You can decide the size of your balls quickly by either cutting the discs in half or quarter them.

Christmas stars made of gold foil

Stars can be created effortlessly and ultrafast with gold foil and then stuck to the window, using a sticky tape.

The gold foil repeatedly is folded into a rectangle. The points can be created with 2-3 incisions from the side. Next, using your scissors, cut small triangles from the folds. Finally, unfold everything and the star becomes visible .

If you would like to practice a little bit beforehand, use a piece of paper until you are confident. This way it is a lot cheaper.

I have collected many more ideas, which you can find in the craft collection

I am sure you will find some suitable creative ideas for your youth group to tinker for the festive season.
