Skits for the camp
A skits night is an excellent evening program, particularly, if well prepared. Skits involve imagination, acting as well as pantomimic skills. Skills, which by far are not promoted enough in kids these days. Moreover, for some, their acting skills actually pay off!
Skits also invite you to laugh. The joke of bringing the punchline to the audience at the crucial moment indeed is an art. The better this is delivered, the higher the fun for the audience.
Skits are also suitable for the camp afternoon, whenever parents are invited. Many of the skits do not even need a lot of material; some get by without material and are also quickly practised. If every group of tents shows off 2-3 skits, a whole afternoon can easily be filled.
In the collection of skits on my website, you will find about 100 suitable skits, as well as many more stand up games or games with witty meanings. Here on this page, you can see pictures of the Barber skit, as well as a visit to the shuffling doctor.
The barber skit: When all are soaped up, the barber starts shaving. He pulls a huge knife out of his belt and starts shaving each candidate.

Shaving with the barber - fast and efficient
For the barber skit, you will need a board with 3 openings, whipped cream as soap, a painter's quiche, a bucket, a knife for shaving (long knife or large kitchen knife, but please no sharp blade).
The three candidates are sitting next to each other in the barber stool. Make sure; the shortest guy is in the middle. Now start with soaping up the face. That's fun for the audience. The barber can do this very theatrically and conscientiously. It becomes even more theatrical when the barber gives a string to all candidates to hold in the mouth. Then an assistant can pull the string to the right at the end; then the 3 candidates wave the heads to the right to soap the left half of the face. Then they swing to the left for the other half of the face.
When all are soaped up, the barber starts shaving. He pulls a huge knife out of his belt and starts shaving each candidate. Of course, to change both sides of the face do not forget to pull on the string.
At some point, the assistant shouts "fire, fire". The barber and the assistant run away, the 3 candidates jump up and run away as well. The middle candidate has to hold on to the board, as he does not reach the ground with his short legs.
However, this sketch is funny enough even without this punchline.
The doctor skit
For this skit, you do not need any material, except a table to use as an operating table. The parody can be even more refined if you could find a white doctor's smock (long white shirt).
A patient comes to the doctor with ominous abdominal pain.

The doctor starts the examination and listens to the patient.
He decides to go for emergency surgery.

A patient comes to the doctor with ominous abdominal pain. The doctor starts the examination and listens to the patient.
He decides to go for emergency surgery. With scissors and heavy equipment, the operation is started. At some point, he finds the cause of the pain. Finally, the patient is stitched up again. In doing so, the sewing thread is drawn through the eyelet of the needle in a pantomime and stitching is started. At some point, the patient is ready to leave. The doctor takes off his gloves and tries to arrange his utensils. He asks himself loudly: "Where have I left only my scissors?"

The statues jokes a lot with the visitors, who settled at the pedestal of the statue. At the end comes a cleaning lady and cleans the statue with the scrubber. Finally, she pours a bucket of water over the statue. For more details on this sketch, see Sketch No.1 in the collection.
