Rain Maker

Building a rain maker is very simple. You will need a few strong cardboard pipes (often available for free in material shops), dried sweet corn or rice, lots of nails which are just as long as the pipe is wide and a cardboard box or leather cut-offs to close the openings. To stick and decorate the rain maker you can use: material cut-offs, leather, felt, coloured paper, felt-tip pens or paint, pearls, ribbons, feathers etc. The tools required are: a hammer saw, scissors, glue, pencil, and ruler

The cardboard pipes can now be sawed into 40-50 cm lengths. Circling the pipe in a spiral, the nails should be hit into the pipe with a hammer. The nails should be 2-3cm apart. Now one of the ends of the pipe can be closed with cardboard or leather which is glued onto the end with glue or strong sticky tape. In the end which is still open, the dried sweet corn should be poured inside (approx 1 cup of corn) and then this opening can also be closed. The rain maker is now ready but should be decorated to taste.
