Chestnut Snake

With relatively little effort, you can make somewhat complex characters such as snakes.

That’s what you need:

  • Chestnuts
  • A string
  • A nail
  • Fabric
  • Glue

First cut a piece of string to your desired length. If no string is at hand, you can make your snake from a flexible wire just as well.

Subsequently, use the nail to make holes into the chestnuts. Be careful that the chestnuts are all approximately the same size and that you use a flatter chestnut for the head.

Next make a knot on one end of your string and thread your chestnuts on. As soon as the head of the snake is on as well, fasten the string again so that your chestnuts cannot fall apart.

Finally, cut the eyes and tongue for your snake out of colourful paper or fabric and glue them to the head.
