Truth

You will recognise the truth and the truth will free you.
(John 8,32)

What is the truth?

We are all on the look out for the truth, for true love and for the true recognition. Despite this, we always have the feeling that there is something foul in the truth. We suddenly have doubts, insecurities, fears and feelings of guilt. Lots of things which we believed to be true, proves to be untrue after a while and the disappointed is big. We ourselves, often have a role to play in these untruths. A little white lie here or a wrong word there – and that all just to save our own faces.

"You will become to recognise the truth and the truth will free you.” – Jesus said that to his disciples. He knew that they also had to fight against doubts, insecurities and fears. You are bound to have a few examples too. However he promises one thing: If you have recognised the truth, the truth will free you. You can get to know God: through talking, speaking and being together.

Speaking means: praying.

Talking means: talking about him and spreading his word.

Being together means: taking him with you everywhere you go.

The recognition of the truth which Jesus means is not so easy to understand. Nicodemus was also on the search for the truth and had lots of questions of Jesus. Did he understand all of the answers?

And even if he did understand them, did he use them for himself? Unfortunately there is nothing about this in the books of the bible but you are bound to have a few examples where people, who met Jesus and had developed a personal relationship to him, experienced a complete change in their lives (Example: Zechariah, Paul, thieves on the cross)
