Bridges
Introductory questions
- Which bridges do you know?
- What are the characteristics of bridges?
There are large bridges, small bridges, very safe and even very wobbly bridges. However they all have one thing in common: All bridges link one side with the other side. We often would not get to the other side without a bridge because there is an obstacle which cannot be conquered in between.
We can recognise something similar in the bible. God is on one side and the people are on the other side. The space in between is called the bible sins. Everything which you understand about sin, and I believe, that you know exactly what is meant.
Despite this, God did not allow that the gap between HIM and us remains there forever and ever. He sent his son, Jesus, who died for your guilt and therefore makes a sort of bridge between you and God. Only this bridge, the Jesus-bridge, is the way to come closer to God. All other attempts will fail.
I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
(John 14 verse 6d)
If you ever come across an imposing bridge, think about this picture. You can ask yourself the question if you have already gone across the bridge to Jesus or if you are still standing on the other side.
